The site specific installations attempt to explore and stimulate dialogue, sharing narratives from and by indigenous people. Creating a platform of recognition to those who have added to the great wealth of knowledge from their own place of standing, as they represent themselves and their communities in hope to depart from created misrepresentations constructed by the Western viewing lens.
When researching about Maori I want to hear and see material contributed by Maori, validating our own expressions and versions of our histories. The objects within this series pay tribute to the Authors, Musicians, Directors, and Films etc that have been created by those in which the stories are about and not from an observer’s point of view coming together as a preferred way of being presented.
